Exploring Vernal Pools

Vernal pools are unique and important wetlands that are necessary habitats for our local salamanders, frogs, and other creatures. They are brimming with life this time of year and we are excited to explore them with you! The vernal pools at Shaw Woods are highly productive - it is a longer distanced hike to reach them, but it is worth the trip. We will be gently sampling the pools and you will be surprised and amazed at the life below the surface!
