Large Venues

On August 25, 2020 Interim Ohio Department of Health Director Lance Himes today signed a Director’s Order that Provides Mandatory Requirements for Entertainment Venues a performing arts and entertainment venues.  Responsible ReStart Ohio Guidance for Entertainment Venues includes Performing Arts Theaters (08/20/2020)

This order states that subject to their full compliance with all provisions of this Order, Entertainment Venues are permitted to present and host entertainment events within the State. Performers, employees and patrons shall comply with this Order, including compliance with the Social Distancing Requirements.

For purposes of this Order only, " Entertainment Venues" shall include:
  • auditoriums, stadiums, arenas,
  • concert and music halls,
  • theaters ,
  • ballrooms,
  • gymnasiums,
  • convention centers,
  • arcades,
  • bingo halls,
  • adult and child skill or chance games,
  • laser tag facilities, and
  • interactive game facilities hosting non-Sports events.

This order covers only Entertainment Venues that have not been otherwise addressed in other director of health orders, including venues encompassed by the Director' s Order that Provides Mandatory Requirements for Youth, Collegiate, Amateur, Club and Professional Sports signed August 19, 2020.

Also, for purposes of this Order only, " Patrons" shall include spectators, customers, interactive participants , game players, clients, or other individuals that are in attendance at Entertainment Venues

Other Entertainment Venues

On June 19, 2020, Casinos, Racinos, Amusement Parks and Water Parks were permitted to operate as long as they follow the Consumer, Retail, Services & Entertainment guidance (Spanish) and any other applicable associated guidance that is specific to their business:

The following entertainment businesses were permitted to operate as long as they follow the Consumer, Retail, Services & Entertainment guidance (Spanish) and any other applicable associated guidance that is specific to their business

  • Aquariums, art galleries, country clubs, ice skating rinks, indoor family entertainment centers,  indoor sports facilities, laser tag facilities, movie theaters (indoor), museums, playgrounds (outdoor), public recreation centers, roller skating rinks, social clubs, trampoline parks, and zoos.
  • Baseball, Softball, Batting cages, 
  • bowling alleys, and 
  • miniature golf.
