Acceptable Hazardous Waste Recycling

Due to budget restrictions the Household Hazardous Waste Program has been halted until further notice.  We apologize for the inconvenience.  Currently the Portage County Solid Waste District is researching other recycling options for this program.  We will post that information as it becomes available.

The District Recycling Center is currently accepting the following HHW items:
 
  - Used oil
  - Antifreeze
  - NiCad batteries
  - Lead acid batteries
  - Electonics (no televisions)
  - Computers (including monitors, printers, and other components)
  - Appliances without Freon
  - Scrap Metal

At this time we CANNOT accept paint, compact fluorescent bulbs or fluorescent tubes, chemicals, household cleaners, pesticides or fertilizers.
