The mission of the Portage County Health Data Warehouse is to establish a web-based system that will provide useful, timely and accurate information to all who share a commitment to promote the well being of Portage County children and residents.

• Sharing:

• Participating organizations recognize the benefits of data sharing to help build more effective and judicious programming to meet the needs of children and residents of Portage County

• Wiser or more effective use of available resources

• Confidentiality:

• Personal identifiers will not be included in any data made available through the warehouse

• Access:

• The warehouse should facilitate access to county information about children and residents' health. The data warehouse supports the national public health objective of increasing access to public health information by both professionals and the public

• Establishing partnerships (Memoranda of Understanding) between Child Health Services of Portage County and public and private county agencies to share child health data

• Determining data standards that will enhance functionality and retrieval of relevant information for end users

• Generating a controlled vocabulary to facilitate indexing and retrieval of information

• Indexing documents that agencies share for hosting at the data warehouse

• Building a website in cooperation with the Portage County government technical director

• Establishing a monitoring mechanism to keep the data warehouse current
