Office Hours: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. BioterrorismLocal Health departments are first responders in the event of a Bioterrorism incident. The United States Department of Homeland Security has issued grants to all local and state health departments in the country in order to address Bioterrorism attacks against our country. Portage County is working collaboratively with Kent and Ravenna City health departments to develop county-wide response plans. We have also included in our plans assistance from community agencies such as:
Portage County has a part time Bioterrorism Coordinator: Kim Villers, RN, BSN. She can be reached at 330-296-9919 if you have bioterrorism related questions. Each local health department has 24hour 7 day 365 days per year coverage for notification of a public health emergency or Bioterrorist event. The coverage is by the local Health Commissioners:
